Eligibility for Self-Funded International Students at Xinjiang University

1.Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens holding an ordinary foreign passport, in compliance with the relevant provisions of theNationality Law of the People's Republic of China, aged 18–45, graduated from senior high school, in good physical health, of good moral character, friendly toward China, with no criminal record.

2.Academic Requirements:
Non-degree programs: Must have completed junior high school education or above.
Undergraduate programs: Must have completed senior high school education or above.
Master's programs: Must have completed undergraduate education or above.
Doctoral programs: Must have completed master's education or above.

3.Language Proficiency:
For Chinese-taught undergraduate programs, applicants must have attained HSK Level 4 with a score of 180 or above. For master's and doctoral programs, applicants must have attained HSK Level 5 with a score of 180 or above.
For English-taught programs, applicants must have attained an overall IELTS Academic score of 6.0 or above, or an overall TOEFL iBT score of 80 or above. (If the applicant's native language is English, they may apply for exemption from submitting language proficiency proof; if the language of instruction for the applicant's previous/current degree program is English, they may apply for exemption by submitting the corresponding proof of study.)
There are no language proficiency requirements for applicants to Chinese language study programs.

Application Materials:
All materials submitted by applicants through our university's application system must be in Chinese or English. Texts in languages other than Chinese or English must be accompanied by a notarized Chinese or English translation:

1.Copy and notarized copy of the highest academic degree certificate (Chinese or English accepted); if the applicant is a current graduating student, a certificate of expected graduation must be submitted first, and the academic degree certificate must be submitted before enrollment; if the applicant is currently enrolled, a certificate of enrollment issued by the institution attended must be submitted.

2.Copy and notarized copy of graduation transcript (Chinese or English accepted).

3.Bio-data page of passport.

4.Bareheaded ID photo with white background.

5.Foreigner Physical Examination Record(valid for 6 months).

6.Original and notarized certificate of no criminal record (Chinese or English accepted, valid for 6 months).

7.In accordance with relevant regulations of the Ministry of Education of China, applicants under 18 years of age whose parents do not reside in China on a permanent basis must submit the original notarized guardian certificate for guardians residing in China.

8.Language proficiency certificate: HSK level certificate required for Chinese-taught programs (valid for 2 years); IELTS or TOEFL score certificate, or proof of English-medium instruction issued by the school, required for English-taught programs. Students applying for one-semester or one-academic-year Chinese language study programs are not required to provide an HSK transcript.

9.Applicants for master's and doctoral programs must submit two letters of recommendation from associate professors or above.

10.Applicants for master's and doctoral programs must submit a personal study/research plan (no less than 800 words).

11.Financial capacity certificate of the guarantor: Self-funded students must provide this certificate. This includes but is not limited to the guarantor's employment and income certificate, bank deposit certificate (no less than RMB 30,000 or equivalent in foreign currency), etc.
