Shanghai Jiaotong University International Undergraduate Application
Application Eligibility:
(I) Graduated from senior high school or equivalent. Graduating students must provide a certificate of expected graduation issued by their school, and must obtain the senior high school diploma before enrollment.
(II) Non-Chinese citizens holding a valid foreign passport, and in compliance with relevant regulations such as the *Notice on Regulating the Acceptance of International Students by Institutions of Higher Education in China* issued by the Ministry of Education.
(III) In good physical and mental health, with no criminal record.
(IV) Possess excellent academic performance, and provide the following supporting documents:
1. Senior high school transcripts (including all courses during senior high school). Graduating students must provide transcripts of all senior high school courses obtained up to the time of application.
2. Score reports of international standardized examinations or national/regional unified senior high school graduation examinations or university entrance examinations, such as SAT (code: 9184) / AP / ACT (code: 3038) / A-Level / IB (code: N010601) / UEC, etc. If unable to provide, a statement of explanation may be submitted.
3. Score report of the China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA). For specific test subject requirements, please refer to the *2026 Shanghai Jiaotong University International Undergraduate Chinese Program Catalog*. Applicants who have not yet taken the CSCA may first submit other materials; after passing our university's selection, they will receive a provisional admission notice, and must submit the CSCA score before June 30, 2026. After passing our university's selection, they will receive an official admission notice.
4. Other supporting materials.
(V) Possess excellent language proficiency, and provide the following supporting documents:
1. Chinese proficiency certificate; at least one of the following must be provided:
(1) HSK score: HSK Level 5 with a score of 200 or above, with a writing score of 60 or above; or HSK Level 6 with a score of 180 or above, with a writing score of 60 or above.
(2) Other equivalent supporting documents, such as a statement that Chinese is the native language, etc.
(3) *Shanghai Jiaotong University Chinese Language Supplementary Study Application*, applicable only to conditionally admitted applicants whose Chinese proficiency has not yet met the requirements and who need one year of Chinese language supplementary study.
2. English proficiency certificate; at least one of the following must be provided:
(1) TOEFL score (code: D070).
(2) IELTS score.
(3) Other supporting documents, such as a statement that English is the native language, a statement of English study, etc.

Application Requirements:
(1) Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens holding a foreign ordinary private passport.
Note: Whether an applicant simultaneously holds foreign nationality and the nationality of the People's Republic of China shall be determined by the nationality identification conclusion of the Exit and Entry Administration Department of the Chinese public security organs. If an applicant is determined by the relevant department to possess Chinese nationality during the application, admission, or enrollment process, or if the applicant does not meet our university's application requirements, their application qualification, admission qualification, enrollment qualification, or student status will be cancelled.
(2) Applicants should be of good moral character and in good physical and mental health (meeting the physical examination requirements stipulated by the state and our university). Knowledgeable about and friendly toward China, willing to abide by Chinese laws and regulations and the university's rules and regulations. With no criminal record or other violations of laws, regulations, or discipline.
(3) Applicants for master's programs should hold a degree equivalent to a Chinese bachelor's degree; applicants for doctoral programs should hold a degree equivalent to a Chinese master's degree.
(4) Some departments and programs may accept bachelor's degree holders to apply directly for doctoral programs; application details shall be subject to the admission announcements and program catalogs published by the relevant departments and programs.
(5) The applicant's Chinese or English proficiency must meet the relevant requirements of the *Shanghai Jiaotong University International Graduate Program Language Proficiency Requirements*.

Application Materials:
(1) Academic degree certificates: Applicants for master's programs must submit the original bachelor's degree certificate; applicants for doctoral programs must submit the original master's degree certificate and bachelor's degree certificate. Graduating students may submit a certificate of expected graduation at the time of application;
Note: 2026 incoming students must obtain a bachelor's or master's degree recognized by China (for domestic institutions) or a *Certificate of Academic Degree Authentication for Study Abroad* issued by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange of the Ministry of Education (for overseas institutions) before the enrollment and registration date; otherwise, the admission qualification will be cancelled.
(2) Academic transcripts: Applicants for master's programs must submit authentic and complete transcripts during the undergraduate period; applicants for doctoral programs must submit authentic and complete transcripts during the undergraduate and master's periods;
(3) Language proficiency certificate: Please refer to the *Shanghai Jiaotong University International Graduate Program Language Proficiency Requirements* for details;
(4) Scanned copy of passport: Applicants must provide the personal information page of their foreign ordinary private passport. If the currently held passport is valid for less than 12 months (calculated from the expected study start date), please apply for a new passport in a timely manner and complete the application using the new passport;
(5) ID photo: Must be a JPG file smaller than 200KB, with pixel dimensions no less than 295 × 413;
(6) Personal statement and research plan;
(7) Two letters of recommendation: Recommenders should be scholars at the rank of associate professor or above, or equivalent professional title, or senior professionals in the relevant industry.
